A fun weekend

Rob's parents and brother came up for the weekend so we could go ride the Trail of Hiawatha.  For thos who don't know what that is, it's a 15 mile abandoned railroad that they turned into a bike trail.  It has a bunch of tunnels and incredibly tall trestles that you get to go through/under.  The very first part of the trail is a 1.66 mile long tunnel that is DARK and COLD and WET.  For my sweet little Logan and Ava that meant one terrifying ride.  They cried through the whole thing which made Rob go even faster.  For poor Ava, who was on the trail a bike right behind Rob, that meant getting covered in mud.  (which freaked her out even more because she had no idea what was covering her = more crying!)  Once we made in through the tunnel (which we had to go through again to get to our car but it was much better the second time) it took a few minutes to regroup and calm down!  The rest of the ride was absolutely beautiful.  The kids did so well!
Here is Ava after the tunnel....managing a smile!

The gorgeous scenery...notice the bridge in the middle of the pic...
Once you get to the bottom of the trail they have a shuttle that takes you back to the top.  Logan loved hanging out the window the whole way up!

Looking down from one of the trestles
Rob, me, Brooklyn (on the seat) and Uncle Boone taking a quick break.
On Friday, our friends let us borrow their boat.  We had such a fun evening on Lake Coeur d' alene tubing and wakeboarding.
Here is Logan and Daddy driving the boat

I can't even tell you how incredibly homesick this post made me for you guys and the beautiful pacific northwest! I'm so glad you made it to the Hiawatha! The pic of Ava with the classic mud stripe made me laugh out loud--so cute! I'm sorry the tunnels were scary for them. I so wish we could have gone with you guys. And boating on Lake Coeur d'alene ... awesome!! Aren't some of the houses along there completely insane??
